Sunday, March 1st is the first SCARTS race of 2015, the annual SCARTS Shootout @ Daytona. This race serves as a means of setting the lineup for the SCARTS Daytona 500 slated for March 8th. Qualifying will be held prior to the Shootout which doubles as 'Daytona 500 qualifying'. We will run classic SCARTS qualifying, one car qualifying at a time - the best of two laps run gets recorded. The fastest car from qualifying is awarded the pole position for both the Shootout and the Daytona 500. The remaining positions go towards the Shootout starting order only. As usual after qualifying, we will select pitstalls in order of fastest car to slowest car. The stalls chosen will carry over into the Daytona 500 as well. The remainder of the starting order (2nd and back in the D-500) will be set by the finishing order of the SCARTS Shootout.
The SCARTS Shootout race is 50 laps and as stated, the results from this race will set the starting field for the Daytona 500 on March 8th. In next week's 500, any additional players that compete that did not participate in the Shootout will start at the back of the field in the order of practice speeds from a pre-race practice session and then by order of connection to the server prior to the green flag.
The SCARTS Shootout is moving to 22 GMT, not 21 GMT, on Sunday March 1st. See you then!
