Sunday is Race #14 for the Full Throttle Cup Series @ Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Those that have driven all 13 races so far this season will use this race as an opportunity to improve their worst finish. Chase points can be improved if the result is an improvement over what was earned (or not earned) from a bad race.
Those not yet at 13 starts this year will earn full points for this race.
EXAMPLE OF HOW THE DROP WORKS:
Over the course of the thirteen races, if a driver's worst finish was 7th, with 14 points earned, and they finish 3rd at Indy scoring 18 points, that is a net gain of four points since the 14 is dropped and replaced with 18. Two Chase points for a Top 3 finish are also awarded to the points reset after Richmond since no points were awarded for the 7th at the time of that race.
There has been alot of confusion over how the drop system worked, and the above example IS HOW IT WAS DESIGNED TO WORK.
