2012 Bonus Points Proposal

Ever since we made it so multiple drivers couldn't earn at least one bonus point during a race, I've been thinking of ways to do so. I just don't like the fact of both bonus points to be earned being exclusive to one driver.

So, here is my idea:

- All drivers that lead 10% or more of a race can earn a one point bonus toward the championship. So in the case of a 200 lap race, all players that lead 20 or more laps can earn an extra point to their finishing position.

- The second bonus point would remain leading the most laps, elligible to ONE driver.

- In the event that noone leads 10% of the race (highly unlikely), the bonus is dropped.

I honestly think we could see alot more strategy unfold during cautions for drivers that have not led much or at all prior to see how long they can fend off the field.

As of the first six Turbocharged Series races (don't know about Watkins Glen), no more than three drivers would have earned the bonus in each race.

I think I suggested this to you about a month back It's a good system, but we don't have to say 10%.. once the Turbosliders.com F1 League Race 9 Video is out, I am going to catch up on every SCARTS report I've missed (so Vegas onwards I believe). We should analyse the laps lead, and see what the bonus points would have been. Then make a decision from there..

Seems like a decent idea, although it's usually the same few people leading a race which could benefit them more than others? Don't know about that as I'm new to SCARTS but I like the idea

Before, SCARTS bonuses was 1 for halfway as always, and 1 for leading in the first 20 laps (10 at a road course). Then, the first 20 laps was replaced with a point for leading the MOST laps. That's what it is now. Burnout is suggesting that we go back to more than 2 people being able to get the bonus point.. you wouldn't get a point for ever 10% you lead, just EVERYONE who gets over 10% of laps lead would get a bonus point. That likely means you would of got a bonus point for Watkins Glen, for example.

This system is also most similar to NASCAR, as they give a bonus point for leading the most laps, and one for leading a single lap.. but obviously this would be stupid as its not that hard to lead a single lap in SCARTS under a YEL.
