Homestead? Yes, an additional Homestead-Miami race has been added to the Turbocharged Cup Series schedule to cap off the first half of the racing season.
Traditionally, Homestead is the season finale race and it will remain so but we will run a day race here for our upcoming Race #12. This event will be 500 km long while the season finale will remain 600 km.
Dore won the 2016 title by winning at Homestead last year despite Burnout trying everything to dominate that race and falling short of the win after a late race caution ended his tire strategy gamble which would have won him the championship if he wasn't caught. Burnout was able to win at Homestead for the truck series title for a little bit of redemption but I'm sure Burnout wants to win this Cup event for that little bit of extra redemption and confidence going into the playoffs.
Burnout was able to retake the points lead erasing Dore's 11 point lead, now leading the standings by 4. This race and next race @ Daytona are the last two races worth full points before drop races begin for them. The regular season winner now scores a +3 bonus for the playoffs so they will be racing each other as if it's for the championship itself!
Come join us this Thursday for day racing @ Homestead-Miami!
RACE #12 @ HOMESTEAD-MIAMI
=====================
When: Thursday, July 20th @ 21 GMT
Race Length: 208 laps (500 km)
2016 Winner (Season Finale): Dore
