The 2016 Full Throttle Cup championship has come down to the final race @ Homestead-Miami Speedway. Burnout has put together two dominant races the past two events to put himself with a chance at taking the title from Dore. Thing is, Burnout MUST win again and preferably win with bonus points.
Both Burnout and Dore have 19 point runs to drop at Homestead. Burnout has only one clinch scenario that Dore cannot overcome - win and score 24 points by scoring both bonuses. That would be a +5 gain while Dore could only do as good as a +2 gain. Every other scenario Burnout has available to him still requires him to win but it will depend on Dore's performance if he can tie it or still outpoint Burnout. Dore owns the tiebreaker for most wins this season so this requires Burnout to actually outpoint him. (22 points is the bare minimum Burnout needs but Dore must not improve upon 19 points). From Dore's POV, as long as Burnout doesn't win - the championship is his. He just needs to manage his race and try for bonus points to make Burnout's run for the win and bonuses more difficult.
We will run this race this coming Thursday, October 6th. This has been a great year of SCARTS - best of luck to our competitors, and thank you for a great year!
