Here is a video clip of a freak accident in Stage 9 of the Tour de France. Juan Antonio Flecha and Johnny Hoogerland got hit by a French television car swerving to miss a tree while trying to drive by this group of five riders. Those two went down hard and Hoogerland flew off into a barbed wire fence...ouch.

crazy stuff! few years ago i watched also when pantani, ulrich,lance and others were driving! but i stopped because of all those crap happened with epo etc.! just crazy what their doing! Tour de Dope

Never understood the whole 'driving a car next to bikers in a Tour de France' event. Pretty stupid TBH.

I watch the entire tour, every year... Sitting in front of my TV for 3 weeks straight.
Hoogerland is a Dutch guy, who had 33 stitches after this crash. He's doing fine now, and finished 2nd in the criteria here in the Netherlands [Day after they reached Paris]. He's a national hero here at the moment.
His bike from the accident is getting auctioned this week, and he'll donate the money to a non-profit organisation.
