IMPORTANT - Pacing Rules Empty IMPORTANT - Pacing Rules

Post  Shyguy Thu Mar 22, 2012 10:37 am

Now I am using a script to count laps lead, and after *some* people were very stupid under pacing at the shootout, I just want to clarify rules. Also, I want the pacing to look good for the video too - no stupidness! So here it is, what you must do under pacing.. and violation of these rules could result in a penalty just as harsh as one you would get in the race:

    - When there is a large crash on the track, the Safety Car driver will call YEL or something to that extent and drive onto the track. From the point YEL is displayed on the screen you must slow down to around 1/3rd speed, not pass anyone and not pit.

Exceptions to this rule are if someone is involved in the wreck and stopped or basically stopped on the track, you are entitled to pass them. The positions are frozen at when YEL is displayed, apart from those involved in the wreck who must get back up to PACING speed before their position will be frozen

Exceptions to the pitting rule is if you are already on pitlane or in the act of driving to pitlane (i.e on the brakes coming in) you may make a full pitstop or whatever is required

    - You must then drive round the track at about 1/3rd speed without overtaking ANYONE (even lapped cars). Players may pass the Safety Car UNTIL the leader is behind it. Once the leader is behind the Safety Car, players must line up single file behind the Safety Car and pace behind it, SINGLE FILE.

    - When it is safe to do so, the Safety Car driver will declare PIT or PIT OPEN or PITROAD OPEN or something to that extent. At this point, you may pit the next time you pass the entrance to pitroad. Remain single file as you come down pitroad - you may not ovetake on the way in unless someone makes a mistake. Remember you must be within the commitment cone on the entrance to pitroad in order to not incur a penalty - this applys under green too. Those who do not pit, also remain single file as you pace.

    - After you have passed the pits or passed through the pits, park in the grid in the order you come to it. COME SLOWLY TO THE GRID - NO PUSHING! If you were the first car one lap or more down at the time the Safety Car was deployed or you are one or more laps down and you did not pit, park in front of the grid to claim a lap back but do NOT take it until permission has being given.

    - Once all are ready and waiting on the grid in the correct positions, the Safety Car driver will call "RESTART". At this point, at ovals pace in double file formation behind the Safety Car, keeping close to the car in front of you at all times, until the Safety Car pulls off to pitroad. At that point, the leader may choose when to start accelerating, and when he does the rest may too. You may NOT pass the car in front of you on your line, and the leader must be in front of the 2nd place car alongside him. However if you edge ahead of someone on your row, because your line got a better start, that is legal.

    A few other small points:

    - Please, please make sure you all stay in correct positions during pacing ESPECIALLY when crossing the line. And ESPECIALLY the leaders.

    - Please, make sure that the first car to stay out at the pitstops that is on the lead lap leads the lap, and if he/she doesn't, then please notify the admins so that we can remember to change that lap lead later. This is to avoid promoting people rushing down pitroad in order to lead the lap.

    - Please make sure the leader leads at the restarts.

    - If the race FINISHES under Safety Car, normal pacing still applys. Pace in POSITION until the race is over. Do NOT overtake and do NOT lag back.

This might be a lot to take in, but DONT tl;dr and then complain about the consequences. I'm posting this because of the videos, I want pacing to look nice on them and also because of 2 drivers actions in Wednesday's SCARTS Shootout.

Popo - You missed the segment break and drove an extra lap, please pay attention to the YEL's. You also unlapped yourself illegally under caution - you were involved in the wreck, therefore you have been placed behind Szymek in the final order. Also you did not pace single file over the finish line, which looked rubbish and mucked the order in game.

Drillz - Upon missing the pits on the segment break, you seemed to consider driving backwards down pitroad. You even did for a few meters before taking to the grass. Seriously mang, wtf.. backwards driving is NOT allowed at any time, whatsoever. You should of just paced to the grid and took the penalty for not pitting (it was a compulsory pitstop on the segment break, don't worry about this those who didn't race, it only happens at special non-points races).

Thanks, and I will crack down hard on anyone who disobeys these rules deliberately from now on.

I feel as though this should be stickied. Thanks for clearing this up for everyone.

It would probably look better in the Rules area too, but that doesn't matter really lol

Shyguy...we need to also include in this staying in your lane...ie drivers on the inside who crowd the high line to try and get the advantage on the speed on top...also giving drive thru penalties to driver whom intentionally lag back to try and get the booast of accelerating early

Crowding the top.. well it depends how bad.. if you have space up there to move, it's fine. In NASCAR there aint a 2 car widths space between each car, doesn't need to be here either.

Lagging back.. well point it out, I can't see it really from up here. We can try to clamp down on it but it's very hard to spot, where its legal and where its not.

ill accept it happens in actual Nascar, but when we are going through the turns and im almost getting squezzed into the wall...it gets a little insane..but tbh alot of these are caused by the same driver..and we all know who that is

Yeah, you should leave about a car and a half's width in the upper lane if you are on the inside row.. they should have plenty of room from the wall. But they don't have to be all the way to the inside, hehe.
