We're at the halfway point in the 2013 SCARTS Chase for the Full Throttle Cup. Burnout has emerged as the points leader after four races but only two full point value races remain for the Chasers, with the last two races serving as drop races to complete the season.
In summary, Lanz has lost two points to Burnout since the start of the Chase and Dore has gained five points on Burnout with a Chase-high 2 victories to his credit. Now the championship standings consist of Burnout leading Lanz and Dore by 3 points entering our next track Auto Club Speedway.
Szymek, Delux and Simms have fallen 18 points + back of Burnout and NEED to score wins these next two races along with performing great in the drop races to have any sort of chance from this point on. Gaining 15+ points on three drivers though is a long shot but mathematically doable.
So in this race a year ago, Burnout led only the final two laps of the race due to Szymek trying to get to the finish on fuel conservation, only to run out just over a lap to go collecting JonnO pursuing him for the win. Burnout avoided the incident to cruise to the win.
