HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
We are two races away from completing the 2017 SCARTS Turbocharged Cup Series and three drivers are left in the title hunt - Burnout, Szymek & two-time reigning champion, Dore. Burnout continues to lead the points heading into the drop races, 10 points over Szymek and 14 over Dore. Now that lead may seem large, but Szymek has three wins compared to Burnout's two - and has had two bad races compared to mediocre runs for Burnout. Szymek has the potential to gain back BIG points, with two 15 point runs to erase, whereas Burnout has 19 and 22 points races to drop, and Dore has 16 and 23 pointers to drop. This fact puts Szymek in a very favorable position to nab the points lead if he can continue the performance he's shown during the playoffs and hold Burnout and Dore off. Simply put, if Szymek manages to win both races, regardless of laps led, he will win the 2017 title.
In the Phoenix Spring race, Burnout lead over half the laps but Dore managed to claim victory. Szymek stayed in contention most of the day until a late race crash. We'll see how Phoenix fares for these guys this time around.
Tuesday works the best for these three players to fight it out, so if you can, join us at 21 GMT for the 'Duel in the Desert'!
