ENTRY LIST: Phoenix II [Race 23 of 24]

Two races remain in the SCARTS Full Throttle Cup Series season and it's on to the drop races for Burnout and Dore.  Burnout holds a five point lead over Dore so its pretty much a must-win situation for Dore to make up any substantial ground.  Dore's worst two point totals during the first six Chase races are 19 and 20.  That is a maximum of 9 points available for him to recover at Phoenix and Homestead.  The best Dore can do at Phoenix is tie Burnout going into Homestead by dominating the race gaining five points.  Burnout's two drops are two 20 pointers so should Dore dominate, Burnout would not improve at all, 20 would be the most he could get.

If Burnout wins at Phoenix, with our without lap led bonuses, he will clinch the championship.  Worst case, Burnout would +2 and Dore would +3 leaving a four point gap at Homestead.  Dore could only gain four points dropping his second race at Homestead but it wouldn't be enough to tie Burnout since Burnout holds the tiebreaker for most wins.

21 points or more is key for Dore.  If he scores under 21 points at Phoenix, Burnout clinches the championship.  Anything less than a win, Dore must finish 2nd with most laps led with Burnout finishing behind him to keep an outside chance at the championship alive.

Will the championship go down to Homestead?  I don't doubt it.  I was in the same boat as Dore is now in last years Turbocharged Series and managed to keep at least a mathematical chance to win the title alive.

We'll see what happens.  Should be a fun race.  I'll be making my final start in the Great Clips car to hopefully seal the deal.
