ENTRY LIST: Daytona [Race 1 of 22]

The Rising Star Series returns in 2012 as our rookie league for SCARTS. Our 2011 champion, Charter, is eligible for another year of racing so he will be our defending champion.

The season has increased to 22 races, up from 18 in 2011. Racing will begin this Wednesday @ 3pm ET at Daytona.

Should 2012 cars not be ready in time for racing, we will run our 2010 car set. So if this happens, drivers may need to switch rides.

For 2012, bonus points have changed. The one constant is that a bonus point will be awarded for the driver that leads the most laps in each race. The other bonus point is now eligible to any driver that can lead 10% of the race laps (in the case of this race, leading 12 or more laps).

Drivers that are not eligible for racing fulltime in the Rising Star Series (due to winning at least one FTC race in the past) will not earn series points this year and will not be allowed to race more than half of the Rising Star races.

No series points?? I mean, that's fine by me but what about that cool mini-championship we had last year? I thought it was good.

Also, *just over half - 12 races will be allowed for FTC drivers, so that those that wish to car share can have an overlap in case one of them can't make it to a certain race. We agreed this before but maybe you forgot

Burnout, you srs about the no series points thing????????????????????? Conflicting messages all the time, and I wish you would confer with me! SCARTS can be the best league on turbosliders but it needs CONSISTENCY in the running..

Shyguy..I gave him the idea of no driver points for cup drivers on the notion there would be no limit on the races they could run...so no matter if a cup driver won all 22 races, a RS guy would be champ..i was basically giving the idea of actual Nascar rules..if you've won a cup race..ya can't win the RS title, but if your the only driver to compete for your team in the Owners title..go for it


also I ensured Burnout I would keep track of the cup guys while keeping tabs on Car owner's points

You shouldn't change the rules on a whim without consulting the other admins to be honest.. although now you have explained it PROPERLY I like the rule a little more. Just worried there could be a saturation of Cup drivers in Rising Star.. So two separate championships essentially.. another worry I have is that the owners championship could make the series champion feel illegitimate.

I'm in the process of writing an official SCARTS rulebook with the base of the FIA Rulebook they use across their series, which is a very well set out system. I'm just a bit peeved that you can go to one part of the forum and it will say one thing, and another part and it will say something different. Consistency is the key - we need to decide these sort of things well in advance of the season.

So basically the decision is, 12 races only for FTC winners and full points given OR all races for FTC winners but no points given, but there would be a seperate owners championship. Personally I wouldn't mind an amalgamation of the two.. I don't like allowing FTC winners to race every race as I want to see RS guys in victory lane, and also the possibility of the RS champion not winning the owners championship. I'd probably vote for the original if there WAS any sort of democracy, based on these merits. However I do like the possibility of larger fields. But I'm not sure we should have that while sacrificing the RS series for the RS drivers.

We don't have to go through with the 'no driver points' rule for Rising Star. Charter is right, we were discussing it and it was on my mind when writing this up. 12 races is a good plan with points counting.

Charter will be in charge of keeping track of the owner points as well.

Well I like the idea as a basis but the problems I set out of too many FTC drivers and making the actual RS championship seem less important probably outweight the advantages.. besides I've written a draft rulebook Burnout, I was thinking, perhaps we could get as many admins/moderators as possible together soon for a group chat in msn where I run past all of you the whole thing and we can discuss/make amendments where neccesary?

It's really thorough though and includes a proccess for amending the rules within it. View it as the SCARTS constitution hehe
